Both options require an available Ethernet port configured for DHCP and a power outlet within 6 feet of the device. What does that mean?

Site requirements

What every site needs

These requirements apply to both self-install and pro install. They're standard for any cellular router deployment and are typically already in place at commercial locations.

Network

Available Ethernet port on existing firewall or router
Port must be configured for DHCP (standard on virtually all business routers)
Port within 10 feet of the intended device mounting location

Power

Standard power outlet (120V AC) within 6 feet of device location
No UPS required, though recommended for uptime-critical environments

Location

Indoor mounting location with line of sight or proximity to exterior wall preferred for signal
No external antenna or roof mount required for standard deployments

Pro Install only

Designated site contact present for the full 2-hour installation window
Access to network equipment room or IDF provided within 15 minutes of technician arrival
SRN device must be on-site and accessible

What is DHCP and do I have it?

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is how your router automatically assigns an IP address to a new device when it's plugged in. It's enabled by default on virtually all business-grade firewalls and routers — if you've ever plugged in a laptop or another device and it just connected, DHCP was doing that work.

If you're not sure whether your port is configured for DHCP, ask your IT team or network administrator before your installation date. If you need help checking, email us at support@securedretail.com — we'll walk you through it at no charge.

Installation FAQ

Self-install works well if you have an IT-comfortable team member who can plug in a device and verify connectivity. The hardware ships pre-configured — it's designed to be plug-and-go once you locate your router port. Pro Install makes sense if you'd rather have a technician handle it, if the equipment room is complex, or if you're deploying across multiple sites and want a consistent installation process without involving your own staff.
SRN may use qualified third-party field service technicians to perform the on-site work. All technicians are vetted and dispatched under SRN's supervision. A remote SRN network engineer is available throughout the installation window for real-time support. SRN remains responsible for the quality and completion of the installation regardless of who performs the physical work.
DHCP is enabled by default on virtually all business firewalls and routers (Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki, Ubiquiti, and others). If you've plugged any device into your router and had it connect automatically without manual IP setup, DHCP is active. If you're unsure, check with your IT team or network admin — it's usually a single setting in the router interface. You can also email us at support@securedretail.com before your install date and we'll help you verify it at no charge.
After your order is confirmed, SRN will reach out to coordinate the installation date. Hardware typically ships 3–5 business days before the scheduled install window. Most sites are fully online within 7–10 business days of order confirmation.
No problem. Contact SRN support and we can upgrade your installation to Pro Install after the fact. The applicable Pro Install fee will apply based on your service term. Contact us at (949) 390-6700 or support@securedretail.com.
Standard Pro Install covers a single device per visit with cable runs up to 10 feet from the router. Excluded items include: cable runs longer than 10 feet, external antenna installation, ceiling mounts above 6 feet, conduit work, switch configuration, firewall rule changes, and after-hours installs. Excluded work is available on a fixed-bid basis — contact us for a quote.
